The ABGYL Mission:

ABGYL is a recreational program whose mission is to promote quality lacrosse for girls grades one through eight. We strive to create an environment that emphasizes fun while developing skills, team work and good sportsmanship. When assembling teams within an age grouping, ABGYL balances the squads so that each team is equal in skill level. While matches are officiated, scores are not recorded during games and standings are not maintained. Each team has at least two AB high school girl lacrosse players who assist the adult coaches.

Select Team

Last season we fielded a 5/6 and a 7/8 select team that played on Friday nights.  We would like to do so again this season and will be taking indications of interest through the regiastration system.  If we get enough interest there could be a tryout but keep an eye out for additional information as we get closer to the spring.

Winter Clinics

We will be announcing winter clinics shortly as well as our pre-season dates for the spring.

Bounce Back Wall

During the summer a bounce back wall was installed at the Lower Turf Fields.  Our program supported the effort to fund and build the wall.  It was a collaborative effort, as other youth sports programs and boosters funded and supported the project.  A special thanks to Jerry Eaton for all his effort and tireless work to make the wall a reality.

Open Board Positions

The ABGYL Board consists of 100% parent volunteers who have or had girls in the program.  We are always looking for new members to fill empty positions, currently we have three opennings that we are trying to fill.  The involvement is a few hours a month.  The opennings we have are Web Master, Equipment Manager and Fields Coordinator.  If you are interested please contact Frank Matarese @ .

Financial burden should not be the reason not to play lacrosse, ABGYL provides scholarships for those families that need a little help, to inquiry please contact Frank Matarese @ or Tom Kearney @ .  All inquiries will be kept confidential.
